WHASN Tenaya is happy to introduce Val Jordan APRN-CNM as their first midwife.
In addition to having privileges at Summerlin Hospital, she is currently the only midwife who attends deliveries regularly at Mountain View Hospital, making her a valuable resource for our community.
Before turning to midwifery, Val worked for 15 years as a nurse, always keeping childbirth at the center of her career. She has experience working not only as a labor and delivery nurse, but also in postpartum, newborn nursery, and as a certified lactation counselor (CLC). As a midwife, she has an immense sense of satisfaction and gratitude as she gets to follow her patients through each stage of motherhood.
Val is a lifelong learner and has enjoyed expanding her knowledge and skills to include all aspects of Women’s Health throughout the lifespan. She is an active member of the Menopause Society and is passionate about helping women transition through this phase of life. She has also attended training through the ASCCP to become proficient in colposcopy, an in-office procedure that helps evaluate cancer risk after a patient has an abnormal pap smear.
Since 2016, Val has worked as a volunteer with medical mission groups to provide healthcare services to the people of Guatemala, an experience she looks forward to every year. Val loves hiking, backpacking, skiing and traveling. She can often be found studying maps and plotting her next adventure.
