Laura DeLeon, APRN

I became an advanced practice registered nurse after helping my father recover from a prolonged illness. He spent nine months in the ICU and was given less than a 5% chance to survive, but he did! I was engaged in all facets of his care, and it ignited a passion in me to do more for the patients I was caring for in the hospital. I cared for him at his best and his worst and saw the best and the worst of providers during his journey. It was eye opening.

I have been caring for women for more than 26 years and I want to be an advocate to provide compassionate, equitable, evidence-based care to all women.

During my career, I have worked in labor and delivery, antepartum (taking care of high-risk pregnant patients), maternal and child home health, maternal newborn, and gynecology. Women are the heart and anchor of the family and I have dedicated my career to caring for women and providing them optimal health care.

The most rewarding aspect for me and my practice is the ability to create a lifelong connection with my patients. To guide them from adolescence through adulthood and help them plan their family and guide them through pregnancy and childbirth and throughout menopause. I feel that women should listen to themselves and make sure that their providers are listening to them. Want to know what is wrong with a patient? Ask her and include her as an integral member of the care team.

I have been a nurse practitioner for seven years and have worked that entire time at WHASN Summerlin with Dr. Brent Bartholomew.

I am married and have one son who is currently active duty in United States Marine Corps. I spend my majority of my free time visiting him as he is the light of my life. I also have one crazy dog that I adopted from the animal foundation. She is my best hiking and swimming partner in crime.
